York City goalkeeper Casillas returned from Wednesdays match for Spain and
walked straight into an interview with the local press as rumours started to spread
that he was upset with the York manager and wanted a move. "It's all a lie,"
said the York goalkeeper. "I never want to leave here. I'm here for the rest
of my life, and hopefully after that as well". When asked as to whether
he was upset at York's run of defeats the keeper replied, "I don't care if
we lose every game we play - just as long as we win the league." He did however
indicate that he might fancy a move into the Euro wing saying, "I'd love
to play for an Italian club - like Bayern Munich". When asked about
his occasionally volatile nature on the pitch, Iker said, "in all my time
as a footballer, I've only been booked 14 times. 8 of those were my fault, but
7 of them are disputeable". When asked to comment on his midweek
match (which Spain won 1-0 at home to Portugal) Iker commented, "it was a
very tough match. Portugal are exceptionally tough to play against - last Wednesday
they had 11 internationals out".
Bitter
Sweet Week This week has turned into a bittersweet week for the supporters
of Derby County. On Saturday, fans returned home dismayed by their sides capitulation
to Everton in a match that really was a must win to keep the pressure on leaders
Dundee Utd. No pundits had predicted the Everton smash and grab, and manager Graham
Frith was furious with his players who perhaps went into the match overconfidently.
To make things worse, star player Guerrero was injured right at the death, and
will miss two matches. On the sweet side, having reached the FA Cup semi-final
for the third time in three years, Derby went one better than last year by overcoming
lesser opposition in the shape of Man City, and progressing to the final. Derby
beat City 2-0 in what turned out to be a comfortable win, as the East Midlands
side learned its lessons from the previous match. Derby will face Birmingham in
the final, and will be hoping to pick up the cup again, as success in the Premiership
now looks a distant possibility.
Tyler makes his
1st signing Paul Tyler's first signing since taking over at Ibrox is that of Victor
Fletcher, thanks to a successful scouting mission Tyler was very excited about

DONS CHOP THREAT Some extra pressure was today heaped on aberdeen
manager stu watson before the league clash with charlton with a sensational announcement
from the board. It has been announced that if the dons fail to win promotion
then watson will be sacked. The shock announcement game after chairman stewart
milne admitted that the club had budgeted for 3 staright promotions and see
anything short of that as a failure. The task is not an impossible one for the
dons though as they find themselves 6 points clear of 3rd with only 9 left to
play for but things are never safe in the world of pbemff. The dons hope to beat
charlton with bradford to slip up to gaurantee promotion with 2 games to spare
and save watsons head.
5 Time Tangy
Dundee
United manager and now 5 time premier champion, Andy Grant, spoke for the first
time this season after a prolonged break from pre and post match press conferences.
It is believed that Grant had stopped talking with the press and banned his players
from doing likewise until the showed the types of performances they were capable
of. He said 'I am over the moon the receive the title once again, especially
as not one of my fellow managers expected me to win in a recent poll. Dundee Uniteds
squad are delighted to have fullfilled their potential at last and can have no
doubts that the club is going to keep building for future seasons to ensure this
is not a one off achievement. However, we will let the lads have a few days off
and get them back to prepare for the next league match against Derby.' When
asked who his potential targets were, Grant kept tight lipped but would only go
as far as saying he has targets in all wings and that he was looking to take it
players who would be first teamers as thr squad has too many players who can't
play.
Rangers have appointed Paul Tyler as their
new manager. Tyler's 1st taste of Football Management won't be easy with Rangers
lying rock bottom of division 1, with only 1 game remaining. Can Tyler save the
club from relegation?? Only time will tell.
