Reasons
to be Cheerful After a disastrous start to the new season, with a disappointing
home loss to Premiership new boys York City, Derby County are again looking
forward with optimism. The interwing trading period was kind to the East Midlands
club, with 10 new faces arriving, and they immediately made an impact in securing
a win away at Manchester United. Kromkamp was Man of the Match, although the
real star was Pressley, who scored one and set up the other, winning a penalty
in the second half, which was smartly put away by Patrick Kluivert. Playing
away at Old Trafford is never easy, and Manager Graham Frith was said to be
very relieved to get the three points in the bag. Another reason to be cheerful
is the imminent arrival of Jamie Carragher at Pride Park after a successful
scouting trip. This weekend sees the beginning of the Interwing Cup, and Derby
are lining up against group 2 opponents Ipswich Town. They will be hopeful
of a successful start to their campaign, and are glad to be in a group which,
at least on paper, looks easier than last year. However, with less group matches
to play, it will be even more important that they get a win this weekend.
ARSCOTT
PAYS TRIBUTE TO DEPARTING STARS
Arsenal today paid tribute to his departing
star players and wishes them all the best at their new clubs. players such as
baggio, shelbe, morison and ibrahimovic left the club today to join there new
clubs abroad. a host of new players landed in London to get ready training at
the emirates stadium. new signings galas, vanbuyten and mutu looked delighted
to be joining arsenal and where said to believe they where at the best possible
club in the game. Arsenal have started the new season in the best possible
way with a good win at their new home against man utd. the sqd was looking very
depleted and stretched going into the game with only 3 top defenders available
for selection but the team pulled through with a very convincing 2-1 win. both
goals being scored by departing striker miller who will be playing his football
in Spain with celta vigo this season. so far so good for the gunners but a
long season is surly ahead of them with plenty of highs and lows as usual.
Almost
Ready
The new season is almost upon us, and Derby County continue their
efforts to rebuild their squad after being ravaged by retirements and losing a
couple of key players in deals. Derby bid a fond farewell to Zanetti, Ze Roberto,
Di Canio and Southgate, all top class players and all retiring from the game.
And in dealing, sadly Derby have said goodbye to both midfield maestros Doni
and Sean Gall. All in all, the fans of Derby County are anxious to see how manager
Graham Frith will dig them out of this hole. At this time, Frith was unavailable
for comment. An aid would only comment that Frith was extremely busy behind the
scenes, making sure that County would once again be able to challenge for
the title and maintain their premiership crown. Watch this space. On another note,
Graham Frith was this week voted 'Manager of the Season', for the second time.
In a statement, Frith said he was 'privileged and grateful' for the award.
ARSCOTT'S
PROMISE TO FANS Arscott has today come out and promised to give arsenal
fans the best season yet and plans to top the success of season 7 by bringing
the premiership crown to their new emirates home. Last season was a disappointing
season but a 3rd place finish wasn't as bad as what's been documented I the media.
poor cup showings made things all the more worse and a defeat in the fa cup to
a conference side was the icing on the cake and made people doubt arscotts position
at the club but arscott has made massive strides in the transfer market
this close season as he has in many other off seasons and the talent coming in
makes arsenal look like a force to be reckoned with. the first game of the campaign
looks to be the only stumbling block before players arrive from abroad but players
of the highest calibre are available. So a promise of success and to let
the squad settle this season has pleased many a arsenal fan this week but the
proof is always in the pudding and arscott needs to put his money where his mouth
is starting this Sunday at home to rivals man utd.
ARSENAL
READY TO FINISH ON A HIGH
Arsenal manager has come out and told all
the clubs fan's that he's ready to get the season finished on a high and get ready
for next season. After poor performances in recent weeks arscott had said that
a break was just what him and his players needed and hopes to win his final two
games and finish 3rd which will be there best ever position since joining the
top league 3 seasons ago The last few weeks have been tough for both arsenal
fans and Arscott but after weeks of will he wont he it looks like arsenal will
be Arscotts club next season after he's been spotted at various european teams
scouting for players during this break. Arsenals next game is against
long time rivals Boro who we don't have the best record against and Everton who
can be a tricky team to beat. if Arsenal can win these last two games it will
leave them in 3 place and make confidence high for the coming season where a title
shot is expected
Derby County Crowned Derby
County were tonight declared Champions of the Premiership for the second time
in 3 seasons, and the fairy tale continues. Manager Graham Frith has been
in charge of the East Midlands club for 8 seasons, and won a championship
in 6 of those 8, starting with Div.3. The Pride Park faithful are out in the
streets celebrating the title as we speak. However, in amongst the obvious
jubilation amongst the supporters of this small club, there are whispered
questions about how long the fairy tale can continue. There is hushed talk
that next season will mark the beginning of the downfall. However, for the
time being, what Derby have achieved will never be taken away, and the rise
from rags to riches will surely go down as a PBEMFF legend, to be remembered
for a long time to come.
IPSWICH NEWS
Ipswich fans have been running wild in the streets as ipswich draw with villa
on the last game of the season which means they are promoted. Ipswich fans are
calling there manager Danny Wallace "GOD" and a "genius" they
are amazed how he has turned there team of boring players into a class team of
players in every posistion. Souza and Pires probably the two best players at Ipswich
have said that they are extatic for the club and both cant believe they have finally
got out of the bottom league after many seasons there.
Unwarranted
Abuse Jealousy, it seems, is an ugly thing. In the wake of Derby County's
success this season in regaining the Premiership crown, there has been an
unprecedented torrent of abuse aimed at the club and its manager Graham Frith.
On the one hand, the clubs tactics have been described as 'boring' and 'unadventurous'.
On the other hand, the manager has been described as 'cocky', 'arrogant',
'old', and even 'gay'. When interviewed about this unfortunate turn of events,
manager Graham Frith, officially now classed as a club legend, replied that
whilst being disappointed by the attitude of some fellow managers, it was
not surprising, given the unprecedented success of the small club. At the
same time, there has been talk of a move by the manager to struggling Liverpool,
but to this situation, Frith replied, "I would like to state for the
record that I will be here to manager Derby County next season. We have a
crown to defend, and inspite of all the doubts and accusations being thrown
around, I believe that crown can be successfully defended. I am to prove the
doubters wrong, and push the insults back down the throats of those from whom
they came". Fighting talk indeed.

Disastrous
Debut for Boss's BoyAfter all the hype this week surrounding the arrival
of star defender Sami Frith, it was inevitable that his debut would be noteworthy,
and so it proved. Frith, son of current manager Graham Frith, appeared from
non-league football this week, where he had been making quite a name for himself,
and his signing came as a surprise to everyone. However, the news was greeted
with general enthusiasm, and even more so, as fans have been watching Derby's
training sessions, and realising what a prospect they now have. Frith lined
up this week-end along side veteran defender Dominic Matteo in the centre
of defence, and although he looked comfortable on the surface, the emotion
of the moment was obviously too much, and his first notable piece of action
was a yellow card for a 'poor tackle' on M_Flores of Atlas in the 36th minute.
Perhaps a little harsh that one. He almost made immediate amends, with a thundering
volley that pounded against the bar eight minutes later. However, that preceded
his last action, as the last man, he took out the Atlas attacker straight
after the break, and the referee was left with no choice but to send him off.
Fortunately, Derby were already in front at this stage, with a goal from Patrick
Kluivert early on, and having already brought on young defender Streete for
middie Skacel, they were able to shore up the defence in the absence of Frith,
and hold on for a crucial win. Sadly, Frith will now miss the crunch match
against prem rivals Arsenal next week, but the good news is that Sol Campbell
is back to face his old club.
New FacesThe
last few weeks have seen a hectic pace of change at Pride Park, with many
new faces arriving to take the places of those who have left or retired. The
Pride Park faithful were sad to see class players such as Doni, Juninho, Pressley
and Gall leave, as well as those who retired, such as DiCanio, Zanetti, Southgate
and Ze Roberto. But nerves have been calmed with an influx of new and younger
talent, such as Kromkamp, Fanfan, Pause, Carlos de Silva, Yamada, Skacel,
Nuno Gomes and Guerrero. Derby also welcome back old friends Nuno Valente
and Patrick Vieira, both of whom had successful stints at the East Midlands
club previously. So, 10 new faces, and one more still on the way. Derby are
proud to announce the arrival of Sami Frith (29 eng 20 10 6 700 700 700) after
a successful scouting trip. He will add some steel at the back. All in all,
it has been a successful Interwing trading period, and Derby still look capable
of challenging for honours this season, after many wrote them off completely.
SOUTHWICK
UNVEILS NEW SIGNINGSChelsea last night unveiled the last of their summer signings
to fans outside Stamford Bridge. Weeks of speculation had hinted at players
but Southwick had until now refused to confirm names joining the Division
three challengers. The biggest signing came in the shape of R_Sharpe, a highly
rated midfielder from Bolton who became the club's biggest signing - eclipsing
the previous record paid for E_Morretti last season. Also joining from
Atlas FC was the Brazilian J_Grisales, while B_Johansen left for Bayern Munich. Southwick
was delighted with the signings as he spoke at a press conference this morning. "We've
had to work hard to bring these players in, but it's all been worth it,"
said the beaming Chelsea manager. "Our midfield now is looking fantastic
and there's a real competition for places there. "We've lost Silvestre
and Johansen but neither player was a regular feature in the first team. These
two new boys will be, plus they are also very young and are still years
off their peak." The one concern remaining for Chelsea now is the lack of
a striker, however Southwick wasn't too concerned. "The wheeling and
dealing means we're without funds to sign the striker we had planned, and I've
had to inform the club today that we can no longer confirm that deal. "However
our new promoted youth strike grabbed a debut goal last week and if he can
keep that up we may not be too badly affected."
ARSENAL
BACK IN TRAINING
Arsenal players have today returned to their new home
for pre-season training. not many of the current sqd have futures at the new emirates
stadium so the training session did a have awqard feel to it. top players such
as baggio and shelbe half heartedly took part but they didn't seem to be interested.
the few new faces such as reddick, Samuel and doni looked to be happy at the new
home and exited to be taking part in the exiting transformation going on at arsenal
atm. Arsenals first game of the new season will see a lot of players who
are set to leave play for one last time. a big issue with this is the lack of
defenders at the club before the foreign window opens. with just 3 established
defenders in the team. in midfield however there is a abundance of talent on show.
two Italian legends will play along side each other for the first time which will
make life very difficult for any team two play against. baggio and doni have been
great friends for a long time and will be looking forward to working along side
each other all be it for just one game. all in all the sqd looks very
unbalanced and with players not under full term contracts will the perform to
give arsenal the start they need to the new season??
DONS
LOOK FORWARD TO NEW SEASON aberdeen were this week preparing for the
big kickoff for season 11 at pittodrie against real life rivals rangers. The
division 2 champions are in good spirits with 3 new faces coming in. Defender
M_Pablo joins from newcastle with last seasons premier striker of the year
M_Owen joining in a stunning move from middlesborough. Midfielder A_Pirlo
arrives from porto after game 1. The squad has been significantly trimmed
with most fringe players being moved on but there is still enough cover for
the division 1 push.
H_Kewell
Retiring H_Kewell has spoken out today as he will be playing
his last game this saturday against Villa. He has said he has been honoured
to play in this team even thought it was only for a season but he enjoyed every
minute of it. He went onto say that he had some scuffles with his team mates but
at the end of the day they were all mates. I hope i can go out ontop next weekend
and hopefully score the winning goal in Ipswich's Triumph over Villa. He also
said he wants to thank Robert Pires for all the help he gave him and feels he
really made him a better player even in his last season at the club. "My
Retirement will let players like Yossi get a regular game at Ipswich Town Football
Club and that brings a smile to my face " Harry then went onto say that
he hopes Ipswich all the best in the future
Derby
County - End of an Era? Whilst the celebrations continue around the
streets of Derby during this week after Derby clinched the Premiership title
again, the attention is already turning to next season. The Pride Park faithful
are concerned at who they will be missing next season, and as the list grows
of retiring and leaving players, the anxiety is increasing. Amongst the stars
leaving the East Midlands club are Paulo DiCanio, who has been a great servant
over the years and a major reason for Derby's success, midfield maestros Sean
Gall and ZeRoberto, along with defensive rocks Zanetti and Southgate. All
in all, a veritable who's who of world class players who will inevitably leave
a gap in the Derby side. However, whilst feeling concern, the fans are also
quietly confident that manager Graham Frith will somehow be able to wave his
magic wand and rebuild the club from the ashes again, as he has done on several
occasions before. Either way, this Sunday's final league match at Southampton
will be an emotional one for the Pride Park faithful, as they joyfully receive
the Premiership Trophy, whilst at the same time saying goodbye to their beloved
stars. One thing is for sure - the away fans section of St.Mary's stadium
will be packed to the rafters!
Sad Farewells. An
unexpected turn of events occured this week when midfield maestro Doni unexpectedly
left the club. Doni has been an outstanding star in Derby's crown this season,
as he controlled the midfield and pushed Derby towards the Premiership title.
However, his performances did not go unnoticed, and within the space of a
day, the club received two concrete offers for his services from rival premiership
clubs. In an emergency meeting of the directors of the East Midlands club,
it was decided that the offer from Arsenal was just too good to refuse, especially
bearing in mind that Doni is soon to retire. In return for Doni, Derby will
welcome back old friends Patrick Vieira and Nuno Valente, both ex-Rams, along
with 15 million. Whilst there were some voices of discontent from a small
group of disgruntled fans outside of Pride Park, on the whole, the fans understand
why the deal was irresistible. Derby are sad to see Doni go, along with Sean
Gall who will be leaving soon for Auxerre, but they are hopeful of once again
mounting a serious campaign to retain the Premiership crown in Season 11.
